And, this is why you have the double door, airlock type situation. It is to keep the airconditioning/heating inside And it is to prevent the outside from effecting inside.
Nothing is more annoying then people, opening the inner door to leave, and then immediately opening the outer one without having WAITED for the inner door to close.. I actually know a restaurant that has a darn zig zag tunnel to prevent that.

I did not realise that’s what those double doors were for, I thought they were a security, or an architectural thing – always just annoyed me. Good to know where the design becomes useful

You can find the origins in old pubs if they haven’t butchered there front entrance yet.
You will find that at the side of the doors lock, there may be a side wall but always a long heavy curtain that will allow a single (or two) to enter/leave while keeping the door open a minimal amount and keeping the wind blocked from entering.
