they didn’t plan because they wanted to get a trilogy out quick and get a return on their 10 something billion investment into it. That, or they did plan it, but when Ryan Johnson took over Last Jedi with near complete control he threw it all out the window.
From everything I’ve heard there wasn’t anything for him to throw out as nothing was planned. The whole series was made up as they went along which is what really makes me upset, as pointed out in thsi comic.
