Phil is the assistant manager at a fast food restaurant called Happy Tacos, where he puts in more time and does more work then one should. Despite having to deal with some of the worst customers you'll ever see, he still has a somewhat positive outlook on life. Of course, even though he’s honest and kind, he won’t let you get away with being a jerk to him and he'll let you know it. In what little spare time he has, Phil is an avid gamer and shares and apartment with his long time friend Doug who also tries to drive him crazy.   How is this guy so patient?
Doug probably lives the life many fellow gamers want to live. All he seems to do is play video games and work on his computer. Both of with he’s incredibly amazing at, being one of the top gamers and always creating the craziest computer modifications. In fact, that is about all he does! However, the trade off seems to be that he has a rather loose grip on reality and tends to literally get sucked into his games. He’s still a good long time friend of Phil, even if his sporadic ideas would drive any other sane person away.  I guess that makes Phil insane.
Millie works at the local coffee shop. She might give you the wrong impression at first, with her sharp tongue, blue colored hair, and multiple earrings, but she really is extremely kind and loyal to the people who deserve it. She’s a good people person which, when combined with her friend’s connections, has made her little group quite popular around town. However she refuses to become one of those party morons everybody else hates so she keeps herself clean. She is currently dating Phil, despite him being a nerd, because he got to know her and even got her into gaming ... kind of.
Mel is the manager at the Happy Tacos that Phil works out. While some people may claim that their boss is an evil monster, Mel truly is one. In fact, many of the higher up people in the fast food business seem to be odd maniacal creatures. As for Mel, he has no problem telling you to do your job or he’ll break your bones and throw you up on the roof. He doesn’t particularly care about his employees, even going as far as to enjoy their misery. Despite being the manager, his assistant Phil appears to being doing just as much if not more work. So maybe Mel IS like your boss after all …
Norvell is THAT employee at Happy Tacos. You know the one I’m talking about. He constantly complains about how much he hates his job, that he has too much work to do, that all the customers are ugly, and that all his coworkers stupid. He does a bad job if any at all, he’s rude with the guests, he steals, he’s unsanitary, and often doesn’t show up at work. How in the world does he even keep his job? Because nobody else wants to work there and they have nobody else to replace him. Again, someone you know? Actually, I hope not.
Zoug has been a rival of Doug ever since they met in high school. What has caused such a legendary battle of epic nerd proportion? Zoug is really good at video games, but Doug is better. That doesn’t seem like much, but to an egotistical third person self-referring perfectionist like Zoug it does. Also unlike Doug, Zoug seems to have to pay for all his stuff, needing to work at the local retail store. The only thing that he is better then Doug at is building machines, and has the ability to make impressively powerful robots and programs.
There are a few more full-time people that Phil has to work with who are fortunately far more competent then Norvell and far less evil then Mel. Of course, they’re still not perfect and he’ll take what he can get. Charles is a good worker, but he tends to brag about the parties he goes to and tends to think he’s pretty awesome. Jen is quite good at the cash register, but she doesn’t like to stay late. Greg doesn’t say much, and he always comes to work late. Of course, there are other workers too, but they’re only part time so we never get to see them.
Ever since they were kids, Millie has had two best friends and currently shares a house with them. Dolores through her know-how and rich parents has found herself in a very popular position, one that she doesn’t want to give up. Unfortunately, this has caused her to be quite mean to nerdy people and enjoys making them uncomfortable in her presents. Despite her flaws in dealing with people different then her, she is very protective of her two friends. Vivian just likes to do what the others do and enjoys pancakes.
One of the greatest machines Zoug has ever made was for a high school science fair. He created a fully functional robot servant modeled after his rival Doug to his evil bidding. Unfortunately he built it too well and it decided it needed to destroy and cause chaos. Zoug got an F. Since then the robot, called Mecha-Doug, has been roaming around by itself looking for ways to upset the world in the only way it knows how – through computers. It doesn’t show up all too often, but when it does you know it’s in the middle of some complicated plan.
Did you know that before Millie, Phil had another girlfriend? Sure, it was that one girl. You know whom I’m talking about. They knew each other in high school, she was the only other person he knew when he moved to the city, she really loves books, was in college … you know, what’s her face! Well whomever she is, she certainly wasn’t made up or one big joke. I guess she was just kind of there, but you never really got to know her. Shame on you!
Phil and Doug have several other friends that are also into gaming, because all gamers need friends to geek out with. There’s Jeff who works at a pizza place, and Darren who manages the computer store Geek’s Coliseum. They and a few others are always ready for game marathons at wherever or nerd discussions at Millie’s coffee shop. A few of them like Jeff, Darren, and Millie are also included in a group with Phil for some retail and fast food get-togethers. And yes, they all share stories about you from work.
Just as there are fun, good-hearted nerds, there are also the greasy, unlikable ones as well. Three in particular are known as Ned, Iggy, and Beans. These are the kind of people that justify Millie’s friend Dolores’ hate for nerds. They only want to play Smash Bros with Final Destination, no items. They buy game systems only to sell them for profit. They nit-pick every movie based on a comic. They hate every game you like just because. They’ve been known to team up with Zoug since his so called evil ideas appeals to their stupid heads.
