Gee wiz gosh golly, I haven't said much here all month. It was easy back when every other week I would have a new issue of Paul and Kyra to post. But now I've been making little comments for each comic of "Uh-oh, it's a Dinosaur" which, might I add, seems to be doing better then the older version ever did. I'm hoping to take this comic to new hights in the next few months! Well I need something else to talk about here. Might as well be video games.

As much as I enjoy Modern Warfare 2, which is quite a bit since I've already done Prestige mode, I'm really looking forward to Battlefield Bad Company 2 this Tuesday. They're both very different games despite being war shooters. I guess Modern Warfare 2 is to Bad Company 2 as Blitz is to Madden. The first is crazy over the top take out everyone with a knife arcade fun. The later is a bit more realistic and reliant on teamwork. Plus that rush mode is a ton of fun.

And with Perfect Dark coming to Xbox Live soon, I'll be playing a lot of shooters this month. At first I wondered why I've been playing so many FPS, what with me playing a ton of Borderlands as well. But it's obvious, I played a ton of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark back in the day. And hey, it's Perfect Dark again! I've come full circle now.

Uh-oh, it's a totally revamped webcomic

I guess when I said the new Paul & Kyra comic would be starting in February, I didn't realize how exact I was.

As you'll soon see I've changed the comic quite a bit. Instead of a small comic book sized update every other week it will be three individual comics three times a week. It'll also be in color and focus more on Kyra. Oh, and I've found a name better then “Paul and Kyra”, something so stupid it'll be memorable and catchy - “Uh-oh, it's a dinosaur” … yes I'm serious, isn't is so bad it's good. The section has some more tweeking needed, but it's working and the old comics are still there. You won't need them for this new one, but it'll be helpful.

Now you all might be wondering what Conan O'brian will be doing now. While I don't know the answer to that, what I do know is why I've made such drastic changes to the comic. Basically the old format, while making some great stories and ideas, wasn't always being what I set out to do – make something crazy and fun. This new way keeps me from getting all talky and moody, and instead forces me to take more time and care into each and every comic. I hope you'll enjoy it, as I am looking forward to this comic more then I have in quite a while!

And I'll see you all again on Wednesday for the next one. Cool beans.

Where the comics be?

I’ve spent most of the month doing two things. Rethinking Paul and Kyra, and looking into a new computer. As for the latter, I’ll hopefully be putting together a brand new more awesome then necessary personal computing machine together this week. It’ll be nice to play PC games again, and not have programs crawl when I run too many of them.

As for Paul and Kyra I’ve been really giving a lot of thought into this comic. Honestly, it’s turning out differently then I expected. Now I’m not talking about readers or anything like that. I’ve been noticing that the comic’s starting to get more serious and less funny. Heck, issue eleven was going to be mostly talking. Boring! I’m making a fun silly comic about a timid guy and an adventurous lizard, and if I have to make a few changes to keep it that way then so be it! Everybody's made of noodles from now on!

Er, actually, the comic will return in a slightly different form sometime in February. It’ll be bigger, better, more fun to read, and far more Kyra. I even have a few different name ideas for the comic too. Something a little more memorable and stand-out-ish then “Paul and Kyra.” But it’s still going to be funny, weird, and adorable, so there’s no reason to run me out of town yet.

It’s too icy out here, so you might fall down.

Sorry for the wait, but now Paul and Kyra chapter ten is alive. As you can see it ... wait, that's not right, 170 pages? Ah, I see what I'm trying there. Now all the chapters are in one giant single gallary in the same way 95 Gallons is set up. This way it will be far easier to go to the next chapter when it's less clicking involved.

As I've been mentioning, I'm going to take a short break from the Paul and Kyra comic for a few reasons. First, I like to have a buffer set up so I don't feel so rushed in making it. Before some vacations used it up it was a week. I also need some time to give more thought to this comic. Short little goofy stories are fun, but sometimes I like to make meatier tales like the Bar Section story ended up being. Originally it was going to be a regular 14-ish page story, but I had to many ideas for it.

But the main reason it that my other comic PLT needs some more love right now. So many of you are reading it I need to focus on it some more. I've got several crazy ideas in my head right now which I'll be thinking about and hopefully making over the next few weeks or so. When I feel I'm ready I'll put Paul and Kyra back into action. I have so much more to do with that comic and I DO love it ever so much. I'll keep you updated as I figure out what to do. Maybe make the comics out of soup and noodles? Somebody's already making a great one out of cardboard and bandaids, so why not?

Well I've got some more good news and bad news about the next chapter of Paul and Kyra. The good news is that I think it's turning out great and it's the longest chapter yet. Which means that yes, it's not going to be ready by Thursday. And it's a two parter as well, nooo! But don't worry, I'm still shooting for having it done this week, it just might take an extra day or two. Sorry about the wait, but I'd rather have it be well done then on time. Just like Nintendo! Except you don't have to shake the wiimote all the time. Really, can't I just push a button to throw things in that new Mario Wii game?

Year 20 and half of that

Oh look, it's the start of a new year! Twelve whole months for opportunities, dream, but mostly comics and stuff. Speaking of which I have some big plans for the site this year. Huge plans! The kinds that need extra wide pants. It also means I need to make new yearly folders for some stuff. Woo!

While I'm still working on Paul and Kyra number 10 I have decided to take a short break on it once this chapter is done. I'm not sure for how long, though. First of all I need to build my buffer back up. But the main reason is to focus on my other comic Phil Likes Tacos for a while. While I love Paul and Kyra and have so many more stories to tell, I can't deny that it takes me a ton of work to do while PLT is getting all the readers. I'll have more details next week with the P&K update. But for now I shall start the new year with ... well, sleep I guess. Woo!

Your Christmas Present is here!

Hey everyone, here's your Christmas Present early because I'm going on quite the vacation - the newest issue of Mundane Miscellany! The bad news is that this is a two parter, and the next issue is still scheduled to come out next year! January 7th, but that's still next year. So like a Christmas present you can open it right now, or save it till Thursday anyway.

After TMMOPAK number 10, I think I might need to take a break from it for various reasons for an unknown time. It takes a lot of work to make an issue. And yet despite this, Phil Likes Tacos still makes up over three fourths of what's read on this site. I do plan on spending some extra time on extra with PLT next month. I know one crazy thing for it I haven't had the time to finish for too long ...

Again, this is all just speculation at this point full of a lot of "mights". I might come back from vacation ready to go with Paul & Kyra. I might need a week or more off. I might be redesigning the whole thing because having a huge first issue gave me more time to write a longer story. Do people read 95 Gallons more then Kyra because it's in color? Will I ever hang my posters up on the wall? Where did I loose my copy of Big Bang Mini for my DS?

Anyway, enjoy your comics weather it's Paul freaking out in a restaurant or Phil realizing how terrible it is to work in fast food.

There's a new Paul and Kyra comic up for you to be reading. It's about BANANAS. How do I make a whole issue about bananas? I'm not really sure. Perhaps I should read it too. Also like the toaster issue, I've gotten tired of writing the word the comic is about in all the rough drafts, sketches, and so on. So read, laugh, love, and learn a lesson why not.

With so many buy one get one free sales everybody's been doing this year, I've gotten quite a stack of old games I never got around to playing when they first came out. Too bad I'm having too much fun with Modern Warfare 2 to play any of them. But I will not dedicate more time to them, for I love creating adventures for Paul and Kyra. Even if it is a ton of fun to chase someone in a circle with a riot shield or take out people on the other side of the map with a grenade launcher.

Man, I hope that's not what Doug is up to now.

Random blabberings

Early week update to talk about some stuff. First of all, massive comic site "The Webcomic List" is doing their 2009 comic awards. Since it's not self-nomination, I'll have to ask my dearest readers to nominate my comics if they feel them worthy. While there are many categories, I bet Paul and Kyra could have a chance at "Best new comic” Because it's, well, new. New like a car that is also new and an old sink is not.

I hope you're enjoying the current storyline going on with Phil Likes Tacos. I'm curious to see where it goes as much as you might be. Uhm, not that I don't know what I'm doing, of course. Speaking of that comic, someone took the time to review it! Embarrassingly it took me forever to mention it here but, uhm ... I'm sleepy. They seemed to like the comic and shared many of my own complaints with it. Complaining brings us together! Give it a read why not. He's reviewing one every week, so it was nice of Luprand to take the time.

EDIT: Sorry everybody, but a few things went wrong updating this comic. Actually, the comic uploaded to the site no problem, updating the rest of the site was like sitting on pointy candy. You don't know why it is but you'll know to avoid it next time.

The new Paul and Kyra is alive and singing, so you should read along. And if you are reading it, then that means I was able to update it while on vacation, horray! I need to make more TMMOPAK comics like this one. It was a lot of fun and Kyra doesn’t talk much when not around humans. I could talk more, but you’re all probably too busy to even read this comic right away. I’ll blab more about video games and such later. Just have a nice Thanksgiving time of yes.
